Dennis F. Saver, MD
Dr. Dennis F. Saver is a board certified Family Physician and Geriatrician. He sees patients from ages 0 to 101 in the Vero Beach office, at Indian River Medical Center, and at Treasure Coast Health South Rehabilitation Hospital. Dr. Saver was the founding President of Primary Care of the Treasure Coast in 1994. In addition to this clinical practice, he has volunteered in the Indian River County Medical Society "WE CARE" Indigent Care program since 1991, and chaired the IRCMS Public Health and We Care Committee since its beginning. He is also the founding President of the Indian River County Medical Society Foundation, formed in 2012 to support the We Care program. Dr. Saver had a Fellowship from the Institute on Human Values in Medicine in 1976, and is Chairman of the Ethics Committee of Indian River Medical Center. He is currently Chairman, Department of Family Medicine at IRMC and a member of the Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. Saver teaches medical students in his office and holds academic appointments as Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor, University of Florida School of Medicine, Department of Family and Community Medicine, and as Clinical Associate Professor of Family Medicine, Florida State University College of Medicine. He has a long interest in electronic health records, and serves as a member of the Steering Committee of the South Florida Regional Extension Center, a member of the Florida Health Information Exchange Coordinating Committee, and mostly recently was chosen as one of 35 "Health IT Fellows" by the Office of the National Coordinator in Washington, D.C.
He has received multiple professional recognitions, including: 2012 Treasure Coast Health Care Champion (Physician Excellence); FSU College of Medicine faculty election to Gold Medical Humanism Society 2009; "Mizer Award" Indian River County Taxpayer Association 2006; Florida Academy of Family Physicians, President 2004; Florida Family Physician of the Year in 2000; Olympic "Community Hero” Torchbearer, 1996 Olympics; Best Doctors in America (2003-present); Best Doctors in Florida (2004-present); and 1987 Volunteer of the Year (Professional Programs), West Virginia Heart Association. He treasures most of all having been named the 2001 American Academy of Family Physicians "Family Physician of the Year."
